Cake smashes have been around now here in the UK for a while. A lot of you may have heard of them or know someone whose child has had one, others may have no idea what they are.
Basically, a cake smash is a photo-shoot combined with your baby's first experience of cake, usually held around their first birthday. What happens is a large cake is placed in front of the baby and you get to watch him or her dig their fingers in and taste; pull apart, stand on and smash it, whilst all of the action is being caught on camera.
You may also guess that a 'Smash and Splash' is a cake smash combined with a bath. A brilliant idea because you can then take a clean baby home instead of a sticky and crumby one!
Whether you choose the former or the latter, I can assure you that the cake smash sessions are so much fun, for you as much as your baby. You can be by your baby's side helping to keep them smiling, batting balloons, tasting the cake and blowing bubbles or stand behind the photographer so that baby looks toward the camera, though a lot of the time this isn't necessary.
Once I receive booking for a cake smash or smash and splash, I will ask for your preferred colour theme. From that I will choose an outfit, arrange for a cake and provide props such as bunting and balloons. All of which are included in the price. Any special requests are also catered for where possible.
